What's your Body Shape?

Right, the reason most women have a problem when shopping for clothes is because they don't know they're own body shapes. It is so important to know your body shape; once you are familar with what are your best and worst assets you can never go wrong. Whether trends change or whatever goes on in the fashion world, stick to the rules of your body shape and I swear down you will never go wrong.

So on this page I'm going to do a simple guide of working out what body shape you actually are.

Apple

If your an apple shape normally you will have a large bust, a rounder stomach and then slimmer hips. If this is you, listen up!

The first trick is to show of your best assets, with apple shapes this is normally your clevage and legs. Rule Number 1 is to never hide under baggy clothes if your an apple, if your feeling self-conscious DON'T you can always wear body control underwear which simply defines your sillhouette.

Wrap dresses will literally be your saviour! They tie in at the waist, which is the slimmest part, and show of your clevage! What a winner!

As I've said in my previous blogs, wear tailored jackets that emphasise the top half of you and sinch in at the waist! Most importantly don't shy away from colour, the bolder and brighter the colour the more attention drawn to your favourite part of the body!

Pear

If you have a small bust and narrow shoulders, and the bottom half of you is bigger for example bigger thighs, hips or bum then your a pear shape.

Shoulder pads will really work on you, they'll broaden your top half and will therefore balance you out with your hips.

As I always say emphasise your best part which will be your waist with a thin belt. Also strapless tops and dresses will really suit your shape and show off your skinniest part.

Strappy tops will look particulary good on you, because your arms, boobs and top half will be shown off.

If your like me and don't have a huge chest, then invest in a padded bra to add a few cup sizes! This will give you so much more confidence and balance you out with your bottom half!

Slim down your bottom half by wearing dark colours, also bootcut jeans will have a flare to them meaning they'll balance out with your hips. Don't forget a bright colour on top will draw attention to your best bits!

Athletic

If you have an athletic shape, you will usually have little curves and be sporty and strong. In more detail your shoulders and hips will be at the same width and you'll have a slight waist and usually a small bust.

As your figure won't look naturally curvy, a great trick is too add femaine details on top such as ruffles! This will make your shape look femaine as well as making your boobs look bigger!

On your bottom half leggins and skinny jeans look great on an athletic shape, and they'll show of your slender legs!

Don't be afraid to wear fitted dresses, skater dresses look particulartly good! Stay away from plunging neck lines, I have small boobs and I just can't pull of those types of neck-lines. They just make you look like your boobs are even smaller than they are. It's a definate no, no.

High waisted skirts will also work wonders on you, particulary if they flare out. This will give the illusion of curves and show of those great legs at the same time!

Hourglass

Curvy bust and hips and then a slender waist. If this is you your an hourglass and probably the envy of all your friends as this is seen as the ideal femanine body shape.

Your favourite items of clothing should be an A Line or pencil Skirt, these will sinch you in at the waist and give you a great shape. Team both with a strappy top and it will mirror your hourglass silhouette. Gorgeous!

To emphaise your small waist wear high waisted trousers that flare out at the bottom (bootcut or wide-leg) this will you out.

A peplum detil on a skirt will look great as it will again emphasise that curvy silouhette.

Upside Down Triangle

If your shoulders are considerably broader than your hips then your body shape is an upside down triangle. This is seen as a very desirable figure as your legs and hips are slim.

For this body shape it's all about balancing out your figure to give the illusion of having an hourglass shape.

The aim is to bulk up your bottom half with items such as harem pants and tulip skirts, this will therefore balance out with your shoulders. Another tip is to use block colours on outer garments.

To bring an outfit together use a statement belt, this will draw attention to your waist and be a highlight of the outfit.

Tops wise use femanine fabrics, ruffles and waterfall necklines these are all perfect to draw attention to your clevage and away from your strong shoulders. Also keep classic because these looks will really work on you, tailored blazers and trousers. If you want to stay up to date avoid following the latest shapes and instead the colours that are on trend., this is only because your shape is so specific.
